MEMORY TONIGHT

A year ago, a blog is still young, I wrote two small pages.

A is memories of school experience: reading a book aloud to my kids in fifth grade.

The other talks about participating in those days, for uno spettacolo teatrale a scuola: emozioni profonde vissute con genitori, alunni e colleghi.

Penso che siano stati letti da pochi...  

Per la Giornata della Memoria di quest'anno, ho ripescato tra i miei file  (ringrazio l'amico Massimo che me lo ha ricordato)  un messaggio che alcuni anni fa il mio Direttore Didattico inviò per l'occasione alle famiglie ed agli operatori scolastici tutti.

Si tratta di un testo abbastanza noto, già allora qualcuno di noi lo conosceva; ma avere avuto la sensibilità di porsi come Educatore tra Educatori, diffondendolo in quell'occasione, lascia perfettamente intendere il clima positivo e costruttivo che ho avuto la fortuna di vivere nel mio recente passato di insegnante (sono in pensione da un anno e mezzo) , anche grazie a questo Dirigente. 

Ecco il testo:

Caro professore,

sono un sopravvissuto di un campo di concentramento.

My eyes saw what no human being should ever see:

children killed with poison by well-trained doctors;

infants killed by nurses tubes;

women and children killed and burned by graduates of high schools and universities.

wary, therefore, education.

My request is: Help your students become human beings.

Your efforts must never produce educated monsters, skilled psychopaths, educated of Eichmann.

reading, writing, arithmetic are not important if they do not serve to make our children more human.

Our school should be a place where diversity and differences in the only goal that is shared is personal growth.

only way to understand what it means to a school that can deliver the cultural heritage that comes from the past, to accompany the child and the boy in the discovery of meaning, and to promote the ability to innovate and build the future that every single person.

SUBSTANTIAL RIGHT?

That is to say that education has relevance to diversity and difference. Not only, therefore, huge memory and condemnation of the horrors of the past but a daily living che non discrimini. E mi riferisco a ebrei, sì, ma anche a Rom, immigrati di ogni etnia, portatori di handicap (o diversamente abili, come si dice ora)e "pseudo-diversi"di ogni tipo.

Per chi avesse tempo e voglia, segnalo anche Il cartone animato vincitore del concorso nazionale “I Giovani ricordano la Shoah” realizzato dagli alunni delle classi IV A/B del III circolo didattico “G. Mazzini” di Bari, che il 27 gennaio, Giorno della Memoria, saranno premiati dal presidente della Repubblica Giorgio Napolitano al Quirinale.
